Payment with Apple Pay is based on a deposited credit card, but the corresponding card data is neither stored nor transferred directly to the Apple device. Instead, a so-called token is assigned to the deposited credit card and saved on the chip - and only this token is transferred during a transaction. The customer then additionally authenticates himself on his iPhone or Apple Watch using his fingerprint.
This ensures a high level of security - for customers and retailers alike.
